▶“Podcast”がWord of the Year for 2005に選出！！

今年，日本の流行語大賞に選ばれたのは，「小泉劇場」と「想定内（外）」なんですね．
流行語大賞はワイドショーネタが多かったりするのでなんですが，Oxford University Pressが選ぶ“Word of the Year”はもうちょっと格式があったりします．

PR Newswireによると，“Podcast”が2005年のWord of the Yearに選ばれたそうです．
これによって，“Podcast”は“a digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar
program, made available on the Internet for downloading to a personal audio
player"と定義されて，来年早くに行われる次のオンラインアップデートでNew Oxford American Dictionaryに収載されるそうです．

New Oxford American Dictionary主任編集者のErin McKean氏は，選出について「去年も候補には上ったが認知度が低く選出されなかった．今年はiPod現象をうまくとらえて全く違う展開になった」と語っています．

ちなみに，次点には以下のようなものが並んでます．

・rootkit (software installed on a computer by someone other than the owner, intended to conceal other programs or processes, files or system data.)
・lifehack (a more efficient or effective way of completing an everyday task: "I found a great lifehack for getting a cheap hotel room.")
・bird flu (an often fatal flu virus of birds, esp. poultry, that is

などなど．．．

ライフハックとかって結構好きな言葉なんだけどなぁ．．．
